sensationalizing

I just "love" the n3w$ wR!ter$ sens @ tionalize Ch!n@ new $. The N Y T!m E articl E said " C h! n @ cR@c k$ d0 Wn 0N $0c!al MedI@ " . There are a lot in the background F@CTs were not given to readers. Now when someone reads this headline, he will immediately creates a conclusion how this country is. Granted, there are sen$0rsh!p. However, I like to see more fact-based reporting rather than sensation@l report -- !ng.

If a person reads how I have written above, he would immediately say "see, this guy is writing this way to stop being blocked." Not true in this instant. I was trying to avoid being $c@nned by G00 gLe. I don't want it.

Back to the topic I am suppose to write, the sens@ti0n@lize new$ $t0ry. The oldest country has a huge population. There are lots of people out there wanting to make a quick buck with no social moral standard. That is from the 30 years of no religious belief system. The only two religions here are: $ and "luxury brands". These two factors combined with still a "follow-my-lead" teaching system, any little mis-message will blow up into major $c0cial unRe$T. Look at last year's Jap@n post-earthquake nuCL e@r di$saster. Someone had spread on the web that sea salt could help in warding off nuclear fallout. Within hours, all salt stockpile in my city of 18 M were gone!!!! That's just one example.

Now with the easy flow of SMS and microbl0gging these days here, there are bound to be "learned" restrictions happening. That's just a fact. This country is moving forward with a mind full of frameworks but not actual rules. The rules are being made as things happen so to speak.

I don't remember seeing the writer of the article that spawned me to write this blog post saying the reason for the "cr@ck d0 wn". The FACT was that six people were caught spreading rumors from various websites and blogging posts saying " Armies were entering the capital city." Now that was a very serious allegation without facts. I am sure, if you were the head of state you would want to stop this Rum0R right?

And seriously, asking some experts based in H kg to comment about m0therL@nd? Right… you get lots of b!@$ opinions and explanations. That was just my own sincere comment ;-)

Parallel lives

Strange day… We woke up. A left for Beijing and I left for a meeting. Then at 4:30pm, each of us left our respective locations in Beijing and in Shanghai, picked up by driver for the airport. We met in HKG at the end of the day.

Woke up in one city, work in a second one, met at a third one. Wow…

A's plane was delayed by 30 minutes. I landed at 930pm. Got to Immigration by 10:01pm. 10 minutes later as I queued my way through the ever so efficient HK immigration desk. Yes, 5 opened for 3 plus plan loaded of passengers. A texted and said she landed. Another 10 minutes, I spotted her; by the time I got through Immigration, she already had my bags and all. "I was late". And she wasn't.

The only places with fast service were in Commie land airport. And at the W Hotel here. Capped the night with the hotel putting us to the same room I had been staying every time I am here. "Home away from home".

knee room

Plane seats are getting tighter physically. This morning was the first time in about six months that I sat in coach between HKG and PVG. Wow. I could not remember it was that tight!!!! The airline must have squeezed couple extra rows of seats. Yikes!!! Luckily, there was an empty seat between me and a lovely older English gentlemen. We chatted all the way to Shanghai. He was 70 years old. Decide to start traveling and be a vegetarian after his wife passed away and had heart trouble last year. He said he exercises 3 times a week, cooks at home, and be active. He even slimmed down to his "younger" waist line.

O yeah, the airline Dr@g 0n ..

42%

How do you "shift" people's mentality here in M @c@u? The survey was about what employees would want to happen in the next two years in order to keep them working for the same company! No surprise here! 42% of the survey population want pay raise. Followed by: better work environment, how interesting the job position is to me, my work position, job security, flexible work hours and life-work balance. Scary percentage huh?

How can we help companies here to keep employees?

One thing the report on TV didn't say: out of the survey population, what is the percentage breakdown across industries.

Do you know your own product?

I recently received a survey about a recent purchase from a "highly" innovative company.  I hope I can contribute somehow to the already so excellent service and details that its former Bo$$ had instilled before beaming himself to the Cloud.

This was the first screen.  None of these related to the "App Store" that was so heavily promoted for the desktop operating system since 10.6.7 or 10.6.8, I forgot.  That was where I did my purchase!  From the App Store on the computer.  Unfortunately the beginning of this survey did not providing me with that option.

Was that because my English was so bad and my technical understanding about online purchase was so poor that I had missed the proper option presented to me?

First option.  No, I bought from a computer but NOT from the website
Second option.  No, I bought from my computer and NOT from a small portable internet device.  I did NOT buy my product from the website.
Third option.  No, I did not use a small portable internet device through the A pp!e St0rE A pp.
Forth option.  No, I did not use my telephone
Fifth option. No on that!

I recalled using App Store on from my desktop.  So where is that option? Ha!

!Cl0ud

Following up to last entry on my @pplLe'$ !Cl0uD email conversion problem, I had fixed it myself. Good luck to the engineers trying to figure out at the "mothersh!p" in CA.

I had to shut down the login from my System Preferences where it asked for my !Cl0uD login. Then I deleted my "converted" account from my Mail program. Well, I already lost lots of Sent mails anyway didn't mater at this point. I recreate my !Cl0uD account that viola! Everything worked. So my Mail program spent the next day syncing everything again. I didn't care anymore. Now even synced to my iPh0ne! Go figure! Anyone tested anything? Ummm…..

I am waiting for iPad 3. Why? I can't use my original iPad effectively as an e-reader anymore! Funny, I use iB00k to read books and now, after all these upgrades, took over 5 seconds per page scrolling. What gives? My original one is still good! No complain$ there.
